US urges Russia to make intentions clear

Deputy US Treasury Secretary Mr Lawrence Summers yesterday urged Russian authorities to make clear their economic reform plans and to steer clear of excessive money printing.

Mr Summers also told the House International Relations Committee that Russia should open a dialogue with its creditors and resist pressures "to spend and lend" that could spark a round of hyperinflation.
