IBM discounts job-cut rumours in Irish operation

IBM Ireland has played down rumours of job cuts at the company

IBM Ireland has played down rumours of job cuts at the company. Technology news site the Register last week reported that in documents it had seen, employees of IBM’s UK-based strategic outsourcing delivery division had been told that a consultation period of 30 days would begin next week.

Employees of IBM’s software group in Britain and Ireland also faced cuts, according to the site.

In a statement yesterday, IBM Ireland discounted the rumours saying Irish employees were not in consultation on the matter.

While the company said “some level of workforce remix is an ongoing part of our business”, it said any redundancy packages offered were a normal part of business and were voluntary.
