New Aer Lingus service to the US

Aer Lingus is set to introduce a new route from Washington to Dublin and Shannon from next June

Aer Lingus is set to introduce a new route from Washington to Dublin and Shannon from next June. It is expected that the route will initially operate one flight a day, three times a week.

The application to fly the route from Baltimore-Maryland airport, Washington, to Shannon and on to Dublin, was made by Baltimore under the Cities Programme Initiative. Approval could be forthcoming in four weeks.

Under the bilateral agreement with the US, the Republic has four gateways from the US, but Baltimore was able to make the application under the programme. Meanwhile, Aer Lingus and American Airlines, which are both part of the OneWorld alliance, have received clearance from the US Department of Transport to operate a code-sharing agreement on the Aer Lingus transatlantic routes.
