Frankfurt Dax: 3752.53 (+52.64)
Germany's DAX index ended bourse trade up about 1.4 per cent, getting a boost from shortcovering as traders covered sales positions taken during the market's recent tumble tied to Asian turbulence.
But little fresh buying interest emerged during the session, leading market participants to expect range trade in the near-term as the 30-share index stabilises at 3750 points.
Among sectors outperforming the DAX advance were chemical shares as BASF was among the top percentage gainers, rising DM1.25 to DM57.45.
