The British National Farmers' Union (NFU) has said it is impressed with the controls in place in Irish beef plants used by Tesco to source some of its products.

An NFU spokesman was speaking at the end of a fact-finding trip organised in response to claims in Britain that Tesco's Irish beef exports to Britain did not meet the same standards as those demanded in Britain.
