Euro gains on dollar

The euro rose more than a cent against the dollar yesterday as rumours about intervention and a turnaround in the German economy swept the market. The euro closed at $1.0391 from $1.0317 a day earlier and at 63.97p against sterling from 63.79p. The pound closed at 81.20p from 81.00p on Tuesday.
