Direct debit option

THE Revenue Commissioners has introduced a direct debit system which can be used to spread the payment of preliminary tax over a 12 month period.

The minimum that must be paid under the new system is 105 per cent of the tax liability for the preceding year of assessment. The minimum amount of preliminary tax which must be paid is the lower of 90 per cent of the tax liability for the actual year of assessment or 100 per cent of the liability for the previous year.

The Revenue also plans seminars to promote the seed capital scheme. The seminars start at 8 p.m. and the venues and dates are: Jury's Hotel, Cork, on May 1st; Coach House, Dublin Castle, May 8th; Ardilaun Hotel, Galway, May 15th, and the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone on June 19th.
