Two points in the closing seconds from Darren Stamp and Paul Carley gave Wexford a fortunate victory over Dublin in the Leinster Under-21 Hurling Championship at Nowlan Park yesterday.

Dublin led most of the way but just two second-half scores left them vulnerable. Wexford missed a lot of chances and their luck appeared to have run out when Nicky Lambert crashed a shot against the post in the 56th minute and then almost immediately Carley had an effort saved on the line.

However, with 90 seconds remaining a 65 from Trevor Kelly resulted in a goal for Michael Jacob which put Wexford 1-10 to 19 in front.

Dublin drew level through Dave Donnelly but they were floored by Wexford's late scores. The winners play Offaly in the semi-final at the same venue next Wednesday.
