Wales make just one change

RUGBY/New Zealand v Wales (Hamilton, 8.0 a.m, Saturday): Wales have made just one change to the side beaten by Australia in Sydney last weekend for tomorrow's Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Llanelli flanker Dafydd Jones, who missed the game against the world champions because of a shoulder injury, comes in for Swansea's 20-year-old forward Jonathan Thomas.

Thomas, who had an encouraging debut in Sydney, moves onto the bench in place of Alix Popham, who is the only one of last weekend's 22 to miss out.

Jones played a major role for Wales in the Six Nations but was hit by a six-week ban in April and May after being sent off in the European Cup quarter-final against Perpignan.

However, back to full fitness and with that matter out of the way too, Jones is back to give the Welsh pack some real steel.

Coach Steve Hansen said: "Dafydd would have played against Australia last week had he have been fit. However, he's fully fit now and that's a real bonus for us because he is a good player.

"People have asked me whether I was tempted to make further changes: well, the answer to that is no.

"We have brought 29 players out here so we can play two games at the highest level and to give some of the younger ones a taste of what it's like to tour.

"They will have taken as much out of this as some of the more experienced players who have played in both games."

Captain Martyn Williams had been the only other concern for Hansen after the Cardiff flanker turned an ankle in training on Tuesday.

However, when the side arrived in Hamilton yesterday,Williams declared himself fully fit and raring to have a go at the All Blacks.

"I think both sides are looking forward to the game for different reasons. We felt we had a chance last week and I think they are still smarting after losing to England in Wellington."
