Packie's bonny score

Packie Bonner will no doubt have been hugely disappointed by the performance of Celtic in last Sunday's Old Firm clash at Ibrox. But he was smiling last week at Athenry golf club when he proved that he is no mean golfer. The 18 handicapper was playing as a guest in the Media West golf society outing at Athenry and recorded a highly respectable 37 points, which secured him second prize amongst the visitors. Taking top spot was Galway Crystal's Tex Callaghan, with 39 points. First prize in the members section went to the society's captain, John Jordan of the Connaught Telegraph, who had 37 points.
