KILMAINHAMWOOD captured the Meath minor football title for the first time with a double scores final victory over a weakened Seneschalstown side at Pairc Tailteann, Navan yesterday.

It was the least exciting decider in Meath for a few years with the losers badly handicapped by the absence of the suspended duo of All Ireland winning stars Colm Coyle and Graham Geraghty.

Seneschalstown missed a few scoring chances in the early stages and were never in the game subsequently as last year's beaten finalists took control and led by 0-7 to 0-1 at the interval.

Kilmainhamwood received a big boost two minutes after the restart when former county player Brian Stafford availed of a handling error by goalkeeper Patrick Darby to knock the ball into the net.

With Martin Crosbie, Raymond Cunningham and Ray McGee also in fine form, the one sided trend continued and McGee netted the second goal 16 minutes into the second half.
