MOTOR SPORT: Eoin Murray is the recipient of the JC Millard Memorial Trophy presented this week by Motorsport Ireland to "the most promising newcomer in any branch of motorsport who has shown enthusiasm, sportsmanship and is an outstanding personality".

The 19-year-old Dublin driver was nominated for the Dunlop Driver of the Year in 2000. In 2001 he contested the fiercely competitive British Ford Fiesta Championship, finishing fifth overall and first in the Newcomers Cup.

This year he is competing in the Renault Clio Cup in Britain and has been nominated Dunlop Driver of The Month in August.

Oliver Stanley, Cathal O'Reilly and Colm Murphy have each won a round of the new Ford Focus Rally Championship and are on equal points. But on 57 points the series leader Hamilton Bell heads the pack by one point.
