Carlow 1-10 Longford 0-10:CARLOW GOT their campaign off to a winning start with this hard-earned three-point win over visitors Longford at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.

The deciding score of the match came 14 minutes into the second half when the home county struck for the game’s only goal. Left-half forward John Murphy got on the end of a fine centre from midfielder Brendan Murphy to rise above two Longford defenders and fist a superb goal.
