Jim Carvill, Sean Quinlivan and John Murray yesterday booked their places at the European Tour qualifying school in San Roque and Guadalmina in November after yesterday's final round of the pre-qualifying school One in England.

Carvill, with a three-round total of 210, did so at Wynward Hall, while Quinlivan and Murray secured their passages at Five Lakes with three-round totals of sevenunder-par 209. Graham Spring's day ended sadly with news of his grandmother's death.

Meanwhile, Scot Gordon Sherry, who has had a lean time since turning professional after winning the Amateur Championship three years ago, graduated when he finished among the leading qualifiers at Wynyard Hall.

Sherry carded a 70 in the third and final round to post a seven-under-par total of 209 but he still trailed runaway leader Johan Skold by eight shots. The Swede, who returns to the school after losing his card this season, closed with a 69 to win by five strokes from David Ray, of Bristol.
