The Irish Youth team outscored their opponents by two tries to one and achieved an emphatic victory over Scotland Youth in the Under 18 Triple Crown tournament at Selkirk last evening.

Ireland went ahead after 10 minutes when full back Brendan Burke scored an unconverted try. The Irish increased their lead to 8-0 by half-time thanks to a penalty by out-half Robbie Glennon.

Frank Lynch, who replaced Glennon 10 minutes after the break, landed Ireland's second penalty before centre John Gibbon scored an unconverted try for Scotland 19 minutes into the second half, Lynch hitting back immediately with another penalty goal.

Loose-head prop Colin Prime scored Ireland's second unconverted try late in the match to seal the win. Ireland now take on England on Friday at Murrayfield.
