England coach Clive Woodward handed outhalf Charlie Hodgson his international debut when he made seven changes in his team to face Romania at Twickenham on Saturday. England, who beat Australia 21-15 on Saturday, have decided to experiment against the Romanians.

Woodward has rested outhalf Jonny Wilkinson, who kicked all England's points against the Wallabies, ahead of next week's Test against South Africa.

Hodgson will make up a new half-back combination with utility back Austin Healey, who switches from wing to scrumhalf, with Kyran Bracken on the replacements' bench. Centre Mike Tindall and winger Ben Cohen are the other new players behind the scrum. They replace Mike Catt and Healey respectively. Catt is also a replacement.

Former rugby league winger Jason Robinson continues at full back after making his first international appearance in the position against the Wallabies. Flanker Lewis Moody, experienced prop Jason Leonard and hooker Mark Regan all return to the pack in place of Richard Hill, Phil Vickery and Dorian West respectively.

Either Steve Borthwick or Tom Palmer will play at lock in place of Danny Grewcock in a team captained again by flanker Neil Back.

Former rugby league international Iestyn Harris has been switched from outhalf to the centres in the Wales team for Saturday's international against Tonga.

Number eight Scott Quinnell takes over as captain from prop David Young, who retired from international rugby on Monday
