Prince Naseem Hamed has revealed that former trainer Brendan Ingle's controversial comments in a recent book were the reason behind their split.
In the book The Paddy and the Prince Ingle criticised the WBO featherweight champion, saying money had become his god.
And although both sides have insisted there is no bitterness in their split, Hamed, trained by Ingle since he was a seven-year-old boy, has now admitted that the wounds caused by the remarks have not healed.
Hamed said: "I think one of the biggest things that split us was the book. That was one of the final things that made me feel the way that I did.
"The book was a big thing in my eyes, he revealed quite a few things, personal stuff. You don't do what he did. I think - and my parents and everybody think - that it was totally out of order what he did.
"I think the only thing I will miss are the other fighters in the gym, all my friends there and the environment where I grew up.
"We have made no decision yet on picking another trainer but we are picking some trainers sooner. We have not sorted out the gym yet and exactly where I'm going to train but it will all happen for me in the best way," he said.
Hamed is rumoured to be considering joining Herol Graham's gym, also in Sheffield, but Johnny Nelson, one of the featherweight's former Ingle stable-mates, claimed that was very unlikely.
Flyweight Damaen Kelly believes he can make it third time lucky for Northern Ireland boxers in Commonwealth title fights on Saturday night.
At the end of last month, cruiser-weight Darren Corbett and light-welterweight Eamonn Magee both lost in championship contests.
Former Olympian Kelly, from Belfast, challenges Zimbabwean 33-year-old Alfonso Zvenyika at the Northgate Arena, Chester, on the under-card of Paul Lloyd's European bantamweight title fight against Frenchman Louis Mancini.
Kelly, unbeaten in his fledgling career, said: "Belfast boxing needs a lift and I'm ready to take the Commonwealth title. It's only my eighth fight but whenever you get the opportunity you have to take it."
