TRAINER Pat Flynn and jockey Shay Barry had contrasting results in their appeals to the Turf Club over penalties incurred due to the running and riding of Mister Music Man at Wexford at the end of October.

Flynn won his appeal against a €1,000 fine and a 42-day ban on Mister Music Man was lifted by the referrals committee after Flynn argued that the horse had been lame since the race and was disappointing and inconsistent. However, Barry’s appeal against a seven-day suspension under the same Rule 212 was turned down and he forfeited his deposit. The jockey was also fined €250 yesterday towards case costs.

Wexford trainer Paul Nolan has kept open the option of running his Cheltenham festival winner Noble Prince in the Grade Two Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on Thursday. Noble Prince is one of 15 entries left in the two and a half mile event.

Snow Fairy will remain in training next season – but is set to be on the sidelines for a lengthy spell. Ed Dunlop’s four-year-old has returned home safely after a near-fore injury forced her out of the Hong Kong Vase at the weekend. The daughter of Intikhab returned to Japan to win the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup for a second successive year before sustaining the injury in preparation for the Hong Kong Vase.
