Tony Adams has been ruled out for two more weeks and his Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, says it is "impossible" for the defender to play for England in the World Cup qualifier against Moldova on September 10th.

Centre back Adams, who started the season with a two-match suspension after being sent off in the last match last term against Derby County, has yet to appear in Premiership action since. He was troubled for most of the campaign by an ankle problem and, although this is now clear, he is currently sidelined by a cracked rib sustained in a pre-season reserve friendly against non-League Sittingbourne.

Wenger, who has left him out of the line-up to face Leicester City at Filbert Street tonight, said: "It will be two weeks before Tony can play any sort of match. Playing for England, for me, would be impossible."
