A dramatic late goal by mid fielder Vincent Guerin gave the Paris club a 2-1 win over Strasbourg in their final league match on Saturday.

The victory allowed PSG to finish second, three points ahead of Nantes who were beaten 2 1 by champions Monaco with Brazilian striker Anderson scoring the winner in injury time.

The 38,000 fans packing Parc des Princes went wild as they realised that their team had earned the right to play in Europe's most prestigious club competition.

"It was emotionally very strong," said midfielder Benoit Cauet, who along with his teammates received a standing ovation from the crowd after the final whistle. "It was a nice conclusion to a season which has often been very difficult."
