Derry City 2 Drogheda Utd 0:DERRY CITY moved into second spot following a 2-0 victory over champions Drogheda United at the Brandywell last night.

Derry secured the points thanks to two goals in as many minutes in the second half while Drogheda's woes were compounded in the 57th minute when Ibrakima Iyane Thiam was sent off.

In the 52nd minute Stephen Gray sent Owen Morrison clear and his low cross was bundled home by Drogheda full back Joe Kendrick as Mark Farren attempted to challenge.

Two minutes later the home side had doubled their lead from the penalty spot. Farren worked his way into the area before Brian Shelley brought him down and the Derry striker scored from the spot.
