Castleknock College overwhelmed a younger King's Hospital side to reach the Leinster Schools' Senior Cup quarter-finals yesterday.

The winners' superior ball-handling skills were level throughout the game and they led 7-0 at half-time thanks to a Richard Geraghty try, converted by Iain Hopkins.

Castleknock, who last reached the final in 1983, continued to dominate the second half.

Scrum-half Geraghty, centre William Stafford and winger Andrew Lynch all figured prominently before Mark Brennan scored two tries.

Shortly before the end Brendan McGeever set up a promising counter-attack for King's Hospital, but it was stifled by Castleknock's defence.
