PAUL CARBERRY was taken to Tullamore Hospital with a suspected fracture to his left arm after he was unseated from Ballinaboola Grove five fences out in the Lockes Whiskey Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan last night.

Carberry left the track clutching his injured arm after Merry People, trained by John Queally, defied top weight to complete a double for rider Trevor Horgan.

Earlier, Horgan partnered the Aidan O'Brien-trained Jane Digby to repeat her course and distance success achieved last month when taking the Innkeeper's Novice Hurdle.

Joe Crowley, representing his son-in-law, said of the former John Oxx-trained filly: "She's not totally in love with that ground (good) and would prefer a cut. She'll run in a handicap hurdle and maybe even on the flat possibly in the Irish Cesarewitch but that might be aiming at bit high."

There was a tragic outcome to the Brosna Maiden Hurdle when the Donald Swan-trained Bit Of A Set Too fell at the final flight when holding what looked a winning advantage under Joey Donnelly and was subsequently destroyed.

David Evans took full ad vantage of the mishap to score on Lemoire to provide owner-trainer Frank Lacy with his first winner for over a year and end the Wicklow rider's 3lb claim.
