St Kieran's 1-15 St Colman's: Leinster champions St Kieran's, who lost by a point in last year's decider, avenged that defeat when they handed holders St Colman's an 11-point drubbing in this one-sided All-Ireland Colleges A Senior hurling final at Clonmel on Saturday.
The Fermoy side, who were chasing a hat-trick of titles, were overrun by the free-scoring St Kieran's in the opening 30 minutes and faced an uphill battle when they trailed 0-10 to 0-1 and were down to 14 men going into the second-half.
Just before the break, midfielder Seamus Stack was replaced by blood substitute Mark Cleary who got his marching orders when red-carded after 20 seconds.
Centre forward Fergus Brown had been withdrawn when St Colman's restarted with Stack back at midfield and within a minute of the throw-in Eoin Reid killed off the Cork team's challenge when he bagged a goal for St Kieran's.
Their influential midfield captain, James Fitzpatrick, made it 1-11 to 0-1 with his third point and there was no way back for the Cork boys.
Goalkeeper Denis Fitzgerald found the Kilkenny team's net with a long-range free in the 43rd minute and St Colman's had late consolation points from Pat Kirby, Paul Kearney and Andrew O'Shaughnessy.
