Many of Ireland's leading sports personalities were at Royal Tara golf club last week to support two very worthy causes, the Darine Mulvihill Trust Fund and the Meath Women's Refuge.

Over 40 personalities took part including Packie Bonner, Nicky English, Charlie Swan, Barney Rock and Joe McKenna. And it was the JP McManus team, led by McKenna, that took the honours on the day with 99 points.

However, the highlight of the day was the auction of four special items, that included a Jack Nicklaus golf bag and a Lions Jersey signed by the entire squad.

There was also an Eamonn Darcy golf glove used in the 1987 Ryder Cup and two tickets for a U2 concert at Slane. These sales helped raise over £9,000 from the auction alone.
