We're tired of blowing our own trumpet in recent weeks so this column has decided to take a rest from that this week. The unappetising Cisco World Matchplay championship is up for decision at Wentworth GC, where Ernie Els (13/8) will be seeking a fifth crown.

The South African has been in superb form this season and is deservedly a tiny price for the

£1 million first prize, given the amalgam of form, his love of the course and his record over it. Throw in that he has a house at Wentworth and it's easy to see that he should love this week.

His main rival is likely to be Vijay Singh (4/1), who, as an unseeded player, will have to play one match more.

If the weather brings a little rain and the course becomes soft then not only will you have to become a straight hitter but a long one to boot and the Fijian fulfils these criteria.

Despite the presence of three of the four major winners, we'll take Chad Campbell (14/1) as the best outside bet.

13/8 - E Els; 4/1 - M Weir; V Singh; 12/1 - T Bjorn; 14/1 - C Campbell; 18/1 - B Curtis; 20/1 - F Jacobsen, S Micheel; 25/1 - A Cejka, T Clark; 40/1 - S Leaney, L Mattiace.
