Madam, – As State and semi-State bodies have full lists of spouses who travelled the world at taxpayers’ expense, can we not expect the Revenue Commisioners will ensure all such trips are cross-checked, and ensure that “benefit-in-kind” was declared and paid in all cases (“Central Bank governor bans travel by employee spouses”, February 5th). That should recover at least 40 per cent of the unwarranted and shameful excess. – Yours, etc,
