Sir, – The report of the commission dealing with the ongoing crisis in the Defence Forces is circulating in draft form.
Until the full report is made public, it is important that the integrity of the process be respected. Attempts to manipulate public opinion, by way of selected leaks, or pre-emptive criticism of the commission based on partial information, should be avoided. The solutions to the various problems in the DF are in the over 500 submissions already made public by the commission. As a member of the public, I intend to “benchmark” the report against my own submission, and I invite others to do likewise.
Hopefully, while this will not be the end of the crisis in the Defence Forces, it could well mark the beginning of the end.
