A chara, - John Johnston-Kehoe (January 9th) complains that "Waterford remains the only city in Ireland without public transport of any kind on Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the year". While we in Kilkenny are used to our near neighbours ignoring our legitimacy as a city, and in recent times as a county, may I assure Mr Johnston-Kehoe that Waterford is not alone?

Kilkenny remains the only city in Ireland without public transport of any kind, on any day of the year. I hope this will change as, thanks to a campaign being led by myself and a number of other councillors, we are conducting a feasibility study into the provision of such a service, one which I hope will be run by our national public bus company, as is the case with Sligo town, and with other cities in the State. - Is mise,

Cllr SEÁN Ó hARGÁIN, Kilkenny Borough Council, City Hall, Kilkenny.
