Madam, – Declan Keane (January 26th) is concerned that the public service work to rule is in contravention of the “increased efficiencies and modernisation” criteria used to justify the benchmarking cycles. Mr Keane can rest easy in the knowledge that most public servants have lost much more in the two pay cuts of 2009 that we ever received from benchmarking. We are not laughing all the way to the bank.
