Madam, - Tom Geraghty of the Public Service Executive Union (March 23rd) confuses having a responsible job with being responsible.
No public servant has ever been held responsible for the state of our hospitals, traffic, lawlessness, institutional child abuse, the blood transfusion service, planning. . . Need I go on?
Yet it was his union members who held the executive power and day-to-day running of such areas. I am frustrated at the reluctance of his members to actually accept responsibility, while believing they deserve to be equated with executives in the private sector who, in similar circumstances, would be searching for jobs. - Yours etc,
