POPE AND PRESIDENT

Sir, - Mr Cian Molloy is, of course, entitled to get his dig in against the President

Sir, - Mr Cian Molloy is, of course, entitled to get his dig in against the President. But he might like to get his facts straight before he does. Since December 15th 1995 there has been no obligation on counsel to wear wigs in court, making his analogy, which was already inappropriate, simply wrong.

With regard to Fr O'Hanlon, it is remarkable that this self appointed fashion correspondent of the Vatican cat walks can describe the President's outfit as "cheap" without once mentioning the somewhat flashy outfit worn by the Pope himself. What's sauce for the goose . . .? Yours etc.,
