Maggi Hambling's monstrosity of his bronze bust propped up in half a granite coffin is no more a statue than was the reclining "hoor in the sewer" which briefly replaced Nelson's Dublin erection.
Statues must be set up and stand (statuere/stare) rather than be laid down in the sewer or the gutter.
If you must be cosying up to your friends while looking at the stars, don't call yourself a statue. "Situe" might be more exact. - Yours,etc,
