Sir, - Every day I look out to see a report on the summer school of Flann O'Brien, or Brian O Nuallain or Myles na Gopaleen, but, to date, no sign. Why is this? Is it possible that there is no school yet formed to commemorate one of our most gifted writers and one of our few classical scholars? Surely it cannot be right that people like Anthony Cronin or J. P. Donleavy have not come together to form even (to quote) a "magisterium of chancers" to analysis and discuss a book such as Al Swim Two Birds?

As one of. the few remaining members of the "Remembering Where We Stood" group so affectionately written about in the late John Ryan's hook, Anthony Cronin would be well suited to commemorate Myles. He wrote a wonderful biography of him, and obviously came to know and respect this complex person. As one of the last surviving members of a dedicated group of distinguished writers and drinkers, we, the public, would like to hear from you, Anthony.

What about a winter school? Myles would like that. (No turnipsnaggers.) - Yours, etc.,
