Sir, - Each time a politician speaks, the first sentence uttered is: "We live in a democracy" - as if they had suddenly both invented and discovered it! One is not overly impressed by the antics in the Dail.
To improve government, how about deleting 66 seats and doubling the salary of TDs? At present, we are grossly over represented by a large number of buffoons (with a few exceptions).
I have just listened to a prominent TD speak of "etics". Let's hope he at least understands the word (truly atrocious). I gather we have four times as many members in the House (per capita) as has Westminster. For what purpose? - Yours, etc.,
