Sir, – I am writing further to Emily Logan’s excellent article (“Law must enshrine child’s right to birth information”, Opinion, February 21st).

I am an adopted adult who at 24 went to search for my birth mother. I was told she had been searching for me since my adoption, sending gifts and wanting to know was my name changed. If I had known this, I truly believe I would have turned out a whole person.

How can you find out who you are if you don’t know who you aren’t? You belong in both families, yet you don’t fully belong. – Yours, etc,
