Electing a new Pope

Madam, - Does anyone else think it odd that a Church with a billion (or more?) adherents would allow just 180 of its male members…

Madam, - Does anyone else think it odd that a Church with a billion (or more?) adherents would allow just 180 of its male members to closet themselves away from the world so that they can choose (probably from among their own number) a person to lead the Roman Catholic Church?

Is the Holy Spirit really so masculinist? If so, what does She think of the equality laws which are now the norm over most of Europe?

By the way, if cardinals are not required to be priests, why are none of them lay people? And what about the people of Rome - are their ideas ever canvassed as to whom they would like to be their bishop?

Somebody recently suggested that the best candidate to be Pope might be the one with the most sisters.
