Sir, - I fully endorse the remarks of Joe Patton (November 13th). The shortage of taxis in Dublin is a disgrace. Recently I tried to order a taxi to attend a function in Merrion Square one evening at 6 p.m. To be sure of a taxi I telephoned two of the largest firms in the city at 11.30 a.m. - over six hours in advance. One firm said it was booked out while the second said it never took a booking for that time of the evening. - Yours, etc.,
