Sir, Mr Fintan Cassidy of the Marino Development Action Group has complained in his letter (November 20th) that Dublin Corporation delayed issuing geological information to his group concerning the Dublin Port Tunnel Project.

The information requested by MDAG comprised over 2,400 pages of site investigation data. At the time of request, Dublin Corporation had not received a geological report, nor had the consultants compiled in one format all the data and test results they were using for their design. Notwithstanding this, the consultants were instructed by Dublin Corporation, on receipt of the request, to compile ahead of schedule all the information into a report for release to MDAG. This was done as quickly as possible and the resulting eight volumes were forwarded to the MDAG solicitors.

The claim that solicitors' letters were needed to extract this information is misleading. Since May 1996 the Marino Development Action Group has chosen to process all its correspondence and requests through a firm of solicitors, unlike the other residents' organisations involved, who liaise directly with Dublin Corporation.

Yours, etc.,
