Sir, - How nice of Sheila Reeves-Smyth (August 10th) to describe her foolhardy driving - overtaking a line of 11 cars, because the driver at the head of the line was too "thick" too pull into the side of the road, then swerving in to the side to give a hint to the aforementioned "thick" driver.

Perhaps the motorist in question was travelling at 38 m.p.h. because there was a temporary spare wheel on her car, or she may have been unfamiliar with the road. Whatever the reason, she was entitled to drive at a speed at which she felt safe, and should not be forced off the road to make way for boorish motorists.

As a young male driver, paying a high insurance premium (because our motor insurance industry considers young males to be a high risk group), I feel justified in castigating Ms Reeves-Smyth for her selfish attitude and lack of courtesy to other road users. Shame on her ! - Is mise,
