Death of Brendan McWilliams

Madam, - It was with great sadness that I read of the passing of Brendan McWilliams. Each day over the past few weeks as I thumbed through your pages I eagerly awaited the return of the author of Weather Eye from his leave of absence. Unfortunately, that absence has become a permanent one.

Mr McWilliams, through his column, made the science of meteorology accessible and fun. I have thoroughly enjoyed his insights. His wide knowledge was evident in his writings, from art to literature to science. He shall be truly missed.

May the stars, like a thousand candles, light his way to paradise. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - It was with the deepest regret that I learned of the untimely death of one of my favourite Irish Times columnists, Brendan McWilliams

I have been reading his amusing, educating and enthralling columns for many years and have been in awe of his ability to communicate the most intricate details of a subject in language that could be easily read and enjoyed by his readers.

I will sorely miss his column and through your newspaper I would like to pass on my deepest sympathy to his wife and family and his many colleagues in The Irish Times.

Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. - Yours, etc,

MARY COX, Richill Woods, Lisnagry, Co Limerick.
