Madam, - Now that we have reached the conclusion that one cannot trust the AIB as far as many of us would love to throw them, I would like to point out another curious practice of theirs for which I can gain no satisfactory explanation.

I have noticed that invariably AIB bank machines - especially in the city centre never seem to have a paper slip when requested. Their machines also only inform one of this after one has made a cash withdrawal.

This is in contrast with other machines, which when out of paper will offer one the option of continuing or ending the transaction.

All of this makes it rather difficult to keep track of one's personal finances.

This has especially aroused my curiosity this year, as it appears to be costing me around €500 per week to live, which marks a substantial increase on last year when I managed to get by on a more modest €300 - €350 per week.

Of course, this could all be the fault of my extravagant lifestyle, except that I don't have one. Or it could just be my total paranoia. But I would be very curious to know what other readers think. - Yours, etc.,
