Sir, – Having enjoyed Michael Harding’s piece (“The moment I assemble the flute, the cats dive off the sofa and claw the back door”, August 7th), I am reminded of my daughter’s suggestion regarding my musical prowess.
I play guitar and like to accompany myself with a song or two whereupon it was suggested to me that I take up the flute instead. On inquiring as to why, she said “because when you play the flute you can’t sing”. – Yours, etc,
