A headline over an article in yesterday’s edition, concerning the forthcoming Lisbon Treaty referendum, stated that a PR firm had been hired, without it going to tender, for the second campaign. As the text of the article made clear, last year’s tender competition organised by the Referendum Commission was to be for a firm both to provide these services for last year’s referendum and to be eligible for automatic appointment to provide such services at all referendums until December 2011.

In the HEALTHplus supplement last Tuesday an article, on the public dental care system, said incorrectly that only dentists can provide dentures directly to the public. The Irish Dental Council approved the grade of Clinical Dental Technician last year and established a register for such dental professionals.

An opinion piece written by Eloise McInerney in yesterday’s edition, concerning the ban on same-sex marriage, misspelled the name of the organisation she works for. It is Noise, a gay rights advocacy group.
