Fares on buses in Dublin are likely to be increased after July or August, but claims by Fine Gael TD Mr Ivan Yates that the Government was delaying the decision until after the June elections were rejected last night.

He said the Government was dragging its feet until after the June 11th election to keep the bad news from the public and prevent a backlash by voters.

However, a spokesman for the Minister for Public Enterprise, Ms O'Rourke, said she rejected any suggestion the decision had been delayed because of the elections.
