Workers' Party candidate Mr John Lowry said yesterday he was the only "unity" candidate in West Belfast uniting Protestants and Catholics.
Mr Lowry said: "A prime example of this blatant sectarianism is the pre election quest for `unionist unity' and `nationalist unity'. When these parties and individuals talk of `unity candidates' they are certainly not striving for candidates that will unite Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter. They are looking for candidates who will `unite Protestants' or `unite Catholics'."
