A young woman who punched and threw a 16-year-old girl against a wall has been jailed for nine months.

A young woman who punched and threw a 16-year-old girl against a wall has been jailed for nine months.

Sentencing Sinead Lakes, Judge James McDonnell said in Tallaght Court that he was satisfied it had been “a savage and unprovoked assault”.

Lakes (22), of Swiftbrook Close, Tallaght, Dublin, had pleaded not guilty to assaulting the girl causing her harm at Swiftbrook Close on October 31st, 2009.

The injured girl said that Lakes called her “a tramp”.

“She [Lakes] then got out of the car, hit my head against the wall and boxed me in the face,” she said.

The judge sentenced Lakes to nine months imprisonment.
