Woman charged with murder after three die in Glasgow

A woman was today charged with murdering one of three men found dead in a block of flats.

A woman was today charged with murdering one of three men found dead in a block of flats.

The bodies of Mr David Gillespie, 42, Mr Ian Mitchell, 67, and 70-year-old Mr Anthony Coyle were recovered from a top-floor property in Dixon Avenue in the Govanhill area of Glasgow.

Mr Coyle, 72, was from Bloody Foreland in northwest Donegal and Mr Gillespie, may have been from Co Donegal but this has not been confirmed.

Ms Edith McAlinden, 37, was charged with the murder of Mr Gillespie, who lived in Dixon Avenue, when she appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Ms McAlinden, whose address was given as Glasgow, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Strathclyde Police tonight confirmed investigations were continuing into the deaths of the two older men, who both lived in Dixon Avenue.

A major investigation was launched after the grim discovery was made following a 999 call yesterday.
