UTV today pitched into the fixed-line residential phone charges market with the launch of its all-Ireland UTV Talk service.

The product offers free weekend calls to anywhere in Ireland and Britain and also promises a 10 per cent saving on standard eircom call charges. The free weekend calls must be less than one hour long.

The all-island broadcaster and Internet provider also says its new service will be 5 per cent cheaper for calling mobiles compared with standard eircom costs.

The line rental will be same as eircom's at €24.18 per month. Subscribers to the new service will receive one monthly bill, allowing users to pay their line rental and calls directly to UTV Talk.
