Geneva - The UN Commission on Human Rights yesterday voted not to consider a US resolution expressing concern over China's human rights record. The commission also condemned Israeli activities in the occupied Arab territories, citing "continued violations" such as torture of Palestinians. It narrowly adopted a resolution expressing concern about "continued repression" in Cuba and calling for political prisoners to be released.

The commission also condemned Afghanistan for persistent human rights abuses, in particular against women and girls.
